Winter Flowers

Do you have a great planter bed that can use some color in the fall and winter months?  Many perennial plants will not grow much during the cooler months and during this period we tend to spend more time outside.  A great way to make your outdoors look lush with color is to plant winter annuals.  Annuals are plants that grow for only a season and flowers are a great way to improve the looks of your property during months when many shrubs freeze back or trees lose their leaves.  Here are some varieties of flowers that grow well in the winter months;

Petunias
Pansys
Alyssum
Snap Dragons

It is cooling off!

Now that the weather is cooling off, it is a great time to decrease the water amount on all your trees, plants, & turf. If you are letting grass go dormant you can water 3 times per week (once per week once nighttime lows are in the 60's) and trees and plants can be watered about twice per week for a deeper watering (Once every week when lows hit the 60's). With temperatures getting into the 70's at night you maybe enjoying the outdoors in the early morning and late evening so you may want to set the run time when you are out so you can locate leaks while enjoying a cup of coffee.
